Registration of Farmers For Maize Programme

Today, farmers from across Murang’a County turned out in large numbers at local public primary schools for the ongoing registration of the County’s Maize Programme. With a target of over 150,000 farmers, the exercise has been decentralized to nearby schools to ensure easy access and maximum participation. This flagship programme by the County Government aims to scale up maize farming, boost food security, and increase production for both consumption and commercial use. In a major win for farmers, the County has partnered with Joy Millers Ltd and Paleah Millers to secure a guaranteed market for their maize—providing both stability and incentive to expand acreage and adopt improved farming practices. The County Government remains committed to empowering farmers through sustainable, market-driven agricultural initiatives.
